Lemongrass Organic Essential Oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus)
East Indian Lemongrass essential oil is extracted from the fresh leaves of the Cymbopogon flexuosus plant, native to the East Indies. Steam-distilled, it delights with an intense, citrus aroma with a herbal note—fresh, slightly sweet, and refreshing. It is one of the most powerful oils with cleansing, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.
It naturally contains a high concentration of citral (geranial and neral), which is responsible for its powerful disinfecting and concentration-boosting properties. It is valued in aromatherapy for its energizing effects on mental fatigue and muscle tension.

Safety and warnings:
According to Tisserand and Young's Essential Oil Safety (Second Edition), this oil may irritate skin and mucous membranes—use at a maximum concentration of 0.7%. It may also cause allergic reactions (skin sensitization), in which case, consider combining it with oils rich in d-limonene or alpha-pinene, which may mitigate the effects. It should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as it has sensitizing effects. Tisserand and Young warn that lemongrass essential oil is not suitable for people with hypersensitive or damaged skin and should not be used on children under 2 years of age.
Oils containing citral should not be used concomitantly with antidepressants (especially bupropion) that inhibit the CYP2B6 enzyme.
