• Important: Essential oils are highly concentrated plant substances that, if used improperly, can pose a threat to health or life. The information provided does not constitute medical advice and is for educational purposes only. The use of essential oils is at your own risk.

Security Guide

Skin and dilution

Never apply essential oils directly to the skin undiluted. This is the most common cause of adverse reactions, including irritation and allergic contact dermatitis. The risk of reactions increases with concentration. Oils such as lemongrass, cinnamon, and clove are particularly irritating.

Recommended approximate concentrations: infants 0–2 years: 0.1–0.2%, children 2–6 years: 0.5–1%, children 6–15 years: 1.5–2%, adults (whole body application): 2–3%, local applications in adults: up to 5–10% on small skin areas. In case of a skin reaction, the oil should be removed using a carrier oil, not water.

Baths with oils

Do not add essential oils directly to bathwater. Oils do not dissolve in water and form concentrated droplets on the surface, which can adhere to the skin and cause severe irritation, especially in sensitive areas of the body. Always use an appropriate dispersing agent, such as an emulsifying preparation or a product designed for baths. Epsom salt or milk do not provide proper dispersion of the oils.

Inhalation and diffusion

Direct, intensive inhalation (e.g., steam inhalation) should not exceed 15–20 minutes. For room diffusion, intermittent use is recommended, e.g., 30–60 minutes of diffuser operation followed by a break of similar length. This prevents adaptation of the nervous system and limits overexposure. The room should be ventilated regularly. Individuals with asthma should exercise particular caution, as some essential oils may exacerbate symptoms.

Eyes and ears

Essential oils must not be applied directly to the eyes or ear canal. This applies to both undiluted and diluted forms. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor. Diluted oils may only be used around the eyes, e.g., on the temples, maintaining a safe distance from the eye. Within the ear area, only the application of diluted oil on a cotton swab at the entrance to the ear canal is permissible, without inserting it inside.

Oral use

Products are not intended for consumption unless explicitly stated otherwise. Do not use essential oils orally without explicit recommendation from a doctor or qualified specialist. Ingesting oils carries a higher risk than other forms of use due to contact with mucous membranes and potential systemic effects.

Do not ingest undiluted oils or oils diluted only in water, as this can lead to irritation of the mouth, esophagus, and stomach.

Do not self-administer concentrated essential oils orally without the supervision of a qualified specialist. The essential oils offered are intended for aromatherapy and topical use. Due to their high concentration, they may cause adverse reactions, especially if used improperly. If considering oral use, consult a doctor or qualified specialist.

Children and storage

Essential oils should be stored in a place completely inaccessible to children. Even small amounts can be dangerous for them if swallowed. It is recommended to use bottles with child-resistant caps, but this does not completely eliminate the risk. In children, much lower concentrations should be used than in adults, and oils containing, among others, menthol, camphor, or 1,8-cineole in high concentrations should be avoided.

Flammability

Essential oils are flammable substances. Do not use them near open flames or high-temperature sources. Devices that use a flame require special caution and should not be left unattended. Scented products should be used according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Contraindications and risk groups

Before using essential oils, special caution should be exercised in cases of pregnancy, chronic diseases, epilepsy, asthma, skin conditions, and when simultaneously taking prescription medications. In such situations, consultation with a doctor or a qualified specialist is recommended. Essential oils can interact with medications and affect the course of certain illnesses.

In case of poisoning

In case of oil ingestion, severe skin reaction, or eye contact, immediately contact a poison control center or seek medical attention. In a life-threatening situation, call emergency number 112 immediately.
