Non-toxic, but may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, especially in young children. When applied to the skin, use low concentrations, such as in bath or massage oils. The book Essential Oil Safety by Tisserand and Young (2nd edition) recommends a maximum topical concentration of 0.8%. Do not use on inflamed, hypersensitive, diseased, or damaged skin, or on dermatitis. Ylang-ylang oil may cause headaches and nausea in individuals sensitive to this oil.

What does "Complete" mean in the context of Ylang Ylang?
Ylang ylang oil is obtained by steam distillation and this process can be stopped at different stages, resulting in different fractions of the oil:

1. Ylang Ylang Extra – the first, most delicate fraction, rich in volatile compounds, used mainly in perfumes.
2. Ylang Ylang I, II, III – subsequent stages of distillation that produce an oil with an increasingly heavier, more woody and less volatile character.
