Safety and warnings
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep out of reach of children. After oxidation, the oil may irritate skin and cause contact allergies – store tightly closed, in a cool, dark place. Potential natural allergens: limonene, linalool.
For children, use a maximum of 1% (approx. 5–6 drops per 30 ml of carrier); do not use on infants or small children. During pregnancy and while breastfeeding, use only after consulting a specialist. Due to the camphor content, exercise caution in people with epilepsy; the oil may have a stimulating effect, so avoid use at night. According to Essential Oil Safety (Tisserand & Young, 2nd ed.), there is no basis for a general contraindication to essential oils in people with hypertension – however, always consider individual response and appropriate dilution.
