Palmarosa essential oil (Cymbopogon martinii var. motia) comes from one of the two main varieties of palmarosa. Compared to the sofia variety, the motia variety stands out:

• A more intense, rose aroma – reminiscent of the scent of rose oil (Rosa damascena)
• Higher geraniol content – ​​which gives it stronger antibacterial, regenerating and moisturizing properties
• Suitable for skincare and emotional balance – ideal for supporting dry, irritated and mature skin
• Cultivated in India, Nepal and the Comoro Islands, where it grows in sunny, mountainous areas.

Cymbopogon martinii var. motia is a more rosy and intense variety, so it is more often used in skincare and relaxing aromatherapy. Cymbopogon martinii var. sofia is lighter and more citrusy, more often used in refreshing and protective blends.
