Patchouli Essential Oil (Pogostemon cablin)
Certified organic patchouli essential oil has an intense, earthy, sweet, and woody aroma with a complex character. It features notes of spice, balsam, and even herbs. These nuances combine to create an incredibly relaxing scent, prized in perfumery and meditation.
Patchouli oil has a calming effect on the skin, soothing redness and irritation, and promoting skin cleansing. Patchouli essential oil comes from the Pogostemon cablin plant, also known as the patchouli beetle. Although this name is not commonly used, it refers to the same aromatic plant, whose oil is prized in perfumery, aromatherapy, and skincare.
Patchouli essential oil is steam distilled from the rich green leaves of lush plants grown in India. This is called "light" patchouli oil. (Dark" patchouli oil is distilled in cast iron vats.)
