Oregano essential oil has a warm, herbal, camphoraceous aroma with spicy notes. It is well-known for its powerful protective properties, especially during cold and flu season.
Oregano helps cleanse the body, supporting natural immunity and restoring health balance. Its power comes primarily from carvacrol, a potent compound that can cause irritation, so the oil should always be diluted well before use.

- Irritant effect: Oregano oil is a moderate skin irritant and a strong mucous membrane irritant.
- Concentration: Recommended maximum concentration for mucous membranes: 1%
- Dilution: Due to the high phenol content, never apply undiluted to the skin.
- Soothing: Always combine with soothing oils (e.g. jojoba oil, coconut oil) to reduce the risk of irritation
- Contraindications: Do not use on children under 2 years of age or on hypersensitive, diseased or damaged skin.
- Pregnancy: Do not use if pregnant

Olejek eteryczny Oregano (Origanum vulgare) to destylat z liści roślin uprawianych m.in. w Hiszpanii. Charakteryzuje się bardzo wysoką zawartością karwakrolu, co czyni go jednym z najsilniejszych olejków fenolowych w aromaterapii. Ze względu na intensywność wymaga zawsze rozcieńczenia.
Dominującym składnikiem jest karwakrol (~74%), należący do fenoli. Fenole wykazują silne działanie biologiczne, ale jednocześnie są potencjalnie drażniące dla skóry i błon śluzowych. Profil chemiczny determinuje zarówno skuteczność, jak i ograniczenia bezpieczeństwa.
Analiza GC/MS potwierdza rzeczywistą zawartość karwakrolu i wyklucza zafałszowania. Bez niej olejek może mieć zupełnie inny skład niż deklarowany, co wpływa na bezpieczeństwo i działanie.
Stosuj 1–2 krople na sesję, najlepiej w połączeniu z łagodniejszymi olejkami. Dyfuzja powinna być krótka i w dobrze wentylowanym pomieszczeniu. Nie stosować przy dzieciach i kotach.
Zawsze rozcieńczony w oleju nośnym. Ze względu na wysoką zawartość fenoli zaleca się bardzo niskie stężenia (maks. ok. 1% dla zastosowań miejscowych). Nigdy nie stosować nierozcieńczonego.
Jest przeciwwskazany w ciąży, może powodować wady wrodzone lub nieprawidłowości w rozwoju zarodka lub płodu wg R. Tisserand.
Przeciwwskazany dla dzieci poniżej 2 lat. U starszych dzieci wyłącznie po konsultacji i w bardzo niskich stężeniach.
Nie łączyć z innymi olejkami fenolowymi i aldehydowymi (np. tymianek ct thymol, goździk, cynamon), ponieważ zwiększa to ryzyko podrażnień.
Okres trwałości wynosi ok. 3 lata. Przechowywać szczelnie zamknięty, w chłodnym i ciemnym miejscu, aby ograniczyć utlenianie.
