Oregano Essential Oil (Origanum vulgare)

Oregano essential oil has a warm, herbal, camphoraceous aroma with spicy notes. It is well-known for its powerful protective properties, especially during cold and flu season.

Oregano helps cleanse the body, supporting natural immunity and restoring health balance. Its power comes primarily from carvacrol, a potent compound that can cause irritation, so the oil should always be diluted well before use.

Application
Cleansing and Antimicrobial Protection. Create a natural hand sanitizer by diluting Oregano oil in aloe vera gel to reduce germs and support immunity.

Respiratory support during cold and flu season. Ease breathing and support immunity during the colder months – prepare a roll-on blend with Oregano and Jojoba oil to gently massage into your chest and wrists.

Relief for muscles and throat. Soothe throat irritation and coughs – make a throat oil by mixing Oregano with Trauma Oil and gently massaging into the neck area.

Shelf life: 3 years
Safety and warnings:
Oregano oil is a moderate skin irritant and a strong irritant to mucous membranes.
Recommended maximum concentration for mucous membranes: 1%.
Due to the high phenol content, never apply undiluted to the skin.
Always combine with soothing oils (e.g. jojoba oil, coconut oil) to reduce the risk of irritation.
Do not use on children under 2 years of age or on hypersensitive, diseased or damaged skin.
Do not use during pregnancy.

The safest combinations of oregano in blends are with citrus oils (lemon, orange, bergamot), woody oils (frankincense, cedar, tea tree) and milder herbal oils (rosemary cineole, eucalyptus, lavender).
Avoid mixing Oregano with oils high in phenols and aldehydes (thyme ct. thymol, clove, cinnamon bark, sage) as they may intensify the irritating effect.
