Safety and warnings:
Clove bud essential oil may irritate the skin and mucous membranes, causing dermatitis and hypersensitivity. It is recommended to apply it to the skin only in very low concentrations (maximum 0.5% in carrier oil) and only for short periods. This oil should not be used in the bath. Caution should also be exercised when using a diffuser or inhaler. Do not use on infants, children, pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not apply directly to the skin undiluted.
According to the publication Essential Oil Safety by Tisserand and Young, oils high in eugenol should be used with caution in individuals with liver disorders and avoided in those with bleeding disorders. May cause neurotoxicity with excessive use. Do not use if allergic to eugenol.
