Safety and warnings:

• Phototoxicity: Cold-pressed lemon oil is phototoxic - it may cause skin reactions after exposure to the sun if used in a concentration higher than 12 drops per 30 ml of base (i.e. approx. 2%)
• It is recommended to use it in low concentration (1-2%) when applied to the skin – e.g. in massage or bath oils.
• Avoid exposure to the sun or sunlamps for at least 12 hours [Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young, Essential Oil Safety, 2nd ed., Churchill Livingstone Elsevier, 2014, pp. 87, 330–331]
• Oxidation: Like other citrus peel oils high in (+)-limonene, lemon oil oxidizes easily
• To prevent skin irritation, we recommend always capping the oil after use, storing it in the refrigerator and avoiding using old or oxidized oil.
