Frankincense Hydrosol (Boswellia carterii) is an artisan-distilled, organic therapeutic mist made from frankincense resin, intended for daily skin care and calming rituals. The hydrosol is created from the entire Boswellia carterii resin through a hydrodistillation process, retaining a delicate, aqueous aromatic fraction prized for its soothing properties and ability to support the skin's natural balance. Customers purchase it for its effects on the skin: soothing, radiance, preparing the skin for serum, and a feeling of "reset."
Frankincense Hydrosol (Boswellia carterii) Organic
Certified Organic Frankincense Hydrosol – Resin Hydrodistillation
Certified organic frankincense hydrosol (Boswellia carterii) is produced through hydrodistillation directly from the resin. This long and careful distillation process preserves a delicate fraction of volatile aromatic molecules in the aqueous phase, giving the hydrosol distinct soothing and nurturing properties. The water used for distillation is crystal clear (mountain spring water).
This is one of the most highly-rated hydrosols: it combines skin care with a subtle aromatic action – it brings peace, clarity, and inner calm. Users most often highlight skin brightening and smoothing, immediate soothing, and a clean, resinous-balsamic aroma. This hydrosol has a natural, resinous-medicinal, therapeutic character (it is not a typical "flower water"). The scent can be drier/"medicinal" and sometimes requires a moment to get used to, but the soothing, skin-clarifying effects, which bring a fresher, younger-looking complexion, are highly valued. If you prefer more delicate, floral aromas, we recommend rose hydrosol (you can also mix 1:1).
Artisan product, not mass-produced. Limited quantity.
Aromatics International distills specifically for hydrosol production, using a longer distillation time, fresh plant material, and copper stills, which ensures:
- Higher concentration of active water-soluble compounds
- Better therapeutic properties
- More stable fragrance
Using hydrosol alongside essential oil provides a full spectrum of benefits – from both the oil and aqueous fractions of the plant.

Hydrosols vs. Essential Oils – What's the Difference?
Simply put: hydrosol is aqueous, and essential oil is oily. Hydrosol contains hydrophilic (water-loving) plant components, while essential oil contains lipophilic (fat-loving) molecules.
The essential oil content in hydrosol is trace, too small for the oil to separate or float to the surface (which is why hydrosol does not need to be shaken before use).
Natural characteristic: The scent of a hydrosol may differ from that of an essential oil, as it's a different composition of molecules transferred to the water. During hydrodistillation, a light, hydrophilic/dispersed fraction of the aroma passes into the water, not the full oil profile – hence the distinct character and subtlety of the scent.

Quality Guarantee – Artisan Distillation
Hydrosols come from fresh, certified organic plants, steam-distilled in traditional copper stills. Each is created intentionally – specifically for the hydrosol, not as a byproduct of essential oil distillation.
People with sensitive skin particularly appreciate their gentleness and soothing effect. Hydrosols are also safe for children and animals – though in animal aromatherapy, we always allow them to choose whether they want contact with the scent.
